Meet our Summer Intern: Sarah Smithline

We’re thrilled to add a new member to the team for the summer, Roger Williams University student and AEL intern, Sarah Smithline! Sarah is an excellent student, a passionate individual, and detail-oriented worker. We’re looking forward to teaching her the ins and outs of the architectural field while having her support the team in a variety of projects. You can get to know Sarah below!

  1.  What was the first job you ever had? (or) What was the worst job you ever had?
My first job was working at Pell Farm at their pumpkin patch. I mostly helped with the pony rides, but occasionally I worked at the snack stand or the register.
  2. What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would probably be a photographer, since I love taking photos mostly out in nature.
  3. What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
When I’m not working, I’m usually relaxing with my dog and family probably reading something, or traveling with my sister to an Indi book store.
  4. How do you balance career and family life?
By keeping a detailed planner and check list to make sure that everything is balanced and nothing is overlapping.
  5. What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
A fun fact about me is the I have a total of 24 cousins (not including spouses) just on my mom’s side.
  6. Where’s your favorite place in the world?
It’s either Ohio since that’s where most of my mom’s family lives or Ireland.
  7. What is your motto or personal mantra?
    Just breathe and relax

  8. Three words to best describe you:
    Passionate, Active, Happy
  9. What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
    Books
  10. What tv show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love?
    9-1-1
  11. If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Teleportation so I don’t have to worry about traffic or being late.
  12. What is one food that you cannot resist?
    Perogies
  13. If you could do a different job for just one day, what would it be?
A Librarian so I can hopefully read a physical book and see if I get through most of it.
  14. Tell us about your family
I’m from a family of 5 plus a 4-year-old Portugess Water dog. Both of my parents work in the healthcare system, while my 2 siblings live in NYC, 1 doing freelance in film and the other in publishing. When any of us are together, either in person or over text it’s never a dull moment by how we end up talking in movie quotes, song lyrics, and our favorite sarcasm.
