ArchitectureEL, Inc. Partners with Cape Abilities for Capt. Lothrop Renovations

Harwich Port, MA ArchitectureEL, Inc. (AEL) is pleased to announce its partnership with Cape Abilities, donating in-kind design services for the renovations of their Captain Lothrop residential facility in South Yarmouth.

Cape Abilities is a nonprofit agency committed to serving individuals with disabilities by educating, counseling, providing residential, social, therapeutic and employment support so as to empower them to achieve meaningful and valued roles in society. Cape Abilities is licensed and certified by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and is approved to provide services for clients of MassHealth and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC), as well as AbilityOne/SourceAmerica. They will be undergoing renovations to their Capt. Lothrop facility on the Cape and ArchitectureEL, Inc. will be providing design services to improve accessibility and overall enjoyment of home for the residents.

“Cape Abilities is thrilled for this opportunity to partner with ArchitectureEL, Inc.! We operate fifteen residential homes for individuals with disabilities across Cape Cod, allowing these residents access to independent living,” said Christine Freiburger, Cape Abilities Director of Development.

ArchitectureEL, Inc. designs both commercial and residential projects with focus on new construction as well as the renovation of existing buildings, historic preservation, and accessibility. Their residential experience includes both private homes as well as extensive experience with large, multifamily, and affordable housing projects. The towns sustainably preserve the architecture and history of the Cape, and ArchEL is looking forward to ensuring sustainable design is integrated into each project.

“In order to best serve our community, we often have to make updates to homes, making them more accessible for residents,” said Christine Freiburger, Cape Abilities Director of Development. “Having the assistance of ArchitectureEL, Inc. allows us to ensure that we can make these homes as safe and enjoyable as possible for the men and women who live there.”

Creating opportunity for individuals with disabilities on Cape Cod is the touchstone that drives this initiative. Together, ArchitectureEL, Inc. and Cape Abilities are establishing a partnership that’ll maximize secular and social opportunities for individuals with disabilities. As a nonprofit, Cape Abilities often will rely on support from the community, and they’re excited to welcome ArchitectureEL, Inc. to their list of partners.
