ADA Compliance
At ArchitectureEL we are required to meet certain standards with every project we complete, as it is imperative each design and build is ADA compliant. ADA is short for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which ensures that a space is accessible in all aspects for safe and sustainable living. This civil rights act was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990 to prohibit discrimination based on disability.
We must design our projects with full accessibility in mind, incorporating standards that can make buildings safer and easier to navigate for those with physical, visual, hearing, and a variety of other impairments. The disability can be a physical infirmity, psychological, or pre-existing health conditions. From the arrangement of rooms to the allocation of space and selection of suitable colors, a variety of factors need attention while designing a structure. We make sure open spaces and buildings have ample floor space, tables, and counters of varying heights, grab bars in toilets, wider entryways, etc. Requirements of every individual need to be met. Individuals should be able to occupy and move around freely and perform basic tasks without assistance.
The ADA opened up the opportunity to make access to buildings a federal law, therefore, this act comprises a variety of rules and regulations, while protecting the rights of citizens in almost all aspects of the public setting. ArchitectureEL looks forward to continuing to create spaces, from design conception, through construction, that’ll meet the functional needs of their clients as well as aesthetics of the project environment.
